Background
The City of Red Deer provided funds of $330,000.00 to Heritage Family Services for the purchase of two condominiums to be used as affordable housing units. The contract between the City of Red Deer and Heritage Family Services was made effective on January 01, 2008.
Two condominiums were purchased on December 21, 2007and will be added to the City’s affordable housing stock. This project will also provide an exit strategy for individuals in transitional housing who are ready for a more independent setting.
Both of the units have two bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms with all of the necessary appliances. The rent and security deposit is $600.00. If a tenant chooses to have a roommate (providing they meet the established criteria) each person’s rent is $300.00 per month plus power. One unit is on the ground level and the other unit is on the third floor of the building. There is one parking stall allocated for each rental unit.
