Gaetz Avenue Apartments

 

 

Kelsey Steeg is the Program Coordinator of the Heritage Transitional Housing Program at 202 Meadowview Road, Michener Services North (also known as Gaetz Ave. Appartments).

Kelsey graduated from Lethbridge College in 2005 with a Child and Youth Care Diploma and has been with Heritage Family Services since February of 2008.   

Kelsey worked for Parkland Youth Homes for 2.5 years doing relief for 1.5 years and doing full time front line for 1 year.  She also worked with Safe Harbour for two years working full time for the Detox Center and the MATS program.  Six months prior to transitioning over to MATS and Detox Kelsey worked at People’s Place Homeless Shelter.

Kelsey enjoys camping, spending time with friends, working out, and going back home to Saskatchewan to see her family.

Mission

Heritage Transitional Housing program provides a low cost living environment for those struggling to obtain financial independence.  We desire to provide a fresh start experience through: a new living environment, various community support systems, and practical direction.  The results will be adults transitioning from dependence on community resources to a place of self-reliance.

 

Client Profile

  • 21- 65  years of age
  • Single adult with no children in primary care
  • Independent - not requiring supervision
  • Individuals not requiring special access to building and washrooms
  • Determined and proactive about changing their current living situation

Admission Requirements

  • Upon intake we will request:
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Application form approval by Heritage Family
  • Services
  • Disclosure of medical conditions and medications
  • Proof of stable income
  • Damage Deposit of $200.00
  • Participation in a “Life Development Plan” including
  • developing goals and strategies with quarterly
  • reviews
  • Reference/Referral interview and recommendation
  • Consent to obtain and release information

Program Goals

  • To provide a safe living environment;  
  • To enhance resident, health, daily living skills, capacity for employment and community re-integration;
  • To build a sense of confidence in personal contribution to society as a whole, and;
  • To establish links to affordable housing and support services within the community according to the needs and capabilities of each individual.

Services / Rooms

  • All rooms are 11 feet x 21 feet with lots of closet and storage space.
  • A large counter space with bathroom style sink, two cabinet mirrors, bed and bedding, dresser, night side table, and large window.
  • Access to shared washrooms and shower facilities and free laundry.

Meals

  • A continental style breakfast will be provided between 6:30 a.m.- 8:30 a.m.
  • A boxed lunch will be provided and picked up during the breakfast hour.
  • A hot buffet supper meal will be provided from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Transportation

  • A shuttle service to bus station will be  provided at peak times.

 

 

Recreation

  • Each floor has a lounge area with T.V. Basement floor has a large dining area and recreation room.

 

Living Costs:

  • $650.00 Room and Board per month
  • $175.00 Room and Board weekly rate. (minimum stay of 2 weeks)

On Call Support

  • 24 hour on call support
